Panasonic Enters into VOIP Market
It is good for all. The well-known consumer cordless phone maker Panasonic has entered into the competitive VoIP market with full vigor by launching two phones using a service called Joip, which is said to be the alternative to Skype.
According to the Inquirer, Matsushita Electric Industrial’s subsidiary Panasonic has reached out an agreement with deltathree, Inc to use its consumer brand, joip VoIP services.
As per the deal, Panasonic will use joip services in its GLOBARANGE series of hybrid cordless phones. Joip is based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and compatible with other SIP internet phones.
The Globarange phones come with a standard telephone jack for regular phone service and an Ethernet jack to connect the phone to a broadband-supported router.
With joip VoIP, both Panasonic and deltathree plans to form a global community by offering free calling services among the joip-supported GLOBARANGE phones in all regions. The Globarange phones will be available in UK in the month of August this year.
